Abstract

I never wanted to write on my experiences for 2 good reasons. One I thought my clients may not like it which is why I decided not mention the names or even show the horoscope of the client in this knol. Two I thought I should delay it for another 10 years. However many of my clients told me to write about it so that others who want to learn Astrology may be encouraged to learn this best of sciences that may help in understanding human life. I decided to put 7 experiences in each Part.

Experience 1

The power of astrological remedies

In the early 90s I had a different opinion about astrological remedies but today I know that it was the wrong one. That was when I just got into the exciting world of Vedic Astrology. I used to spend time trying to decipher the logic behind astrological remedies. Were these remedies similar to the painkiller that is administered when a person goes through pain. The disease as we all know is not cured by the painkiller but that numbing effect buys enough time until the wound heals and the pain is gone. On the same lines, I thought that if a period is bad it is bad and that you have to simply cross that bad stretch somehow and until you do that you need a painkiller in the form of an astrological remedy.

Nevertheless I continued to suggest the remedies as per the suggestions found in the book titled Brihat Parasara Hora Sastra and today I thank God that I did. This foundation book of Vedic Astrological knowledge  comes in 2 Volumes and is available not only in all the major bookstores in India but also in many cities around the world. I suggest that every who likes Astrology posses a copy of this book especially at home. Some good soul in your family may find it very useful. Volume 2 deals with the remedies that are to be done during a particular planetary period i.e. during a particular Dasha and Bhukti. I just prescribed them without any doubt about it though I did not know how they worked. It is like the man in a pharmacy giving medicines to the customers. Around the beginning of year 2000 I understood very well the logic behind the remedies that were suggested in the book and because I understood the real meaning I even added my own remedies that were based on the original thought.

From about 9 to 6 months prior to the December 2004 Tsunami that wiped off many homes on the sea shore of Tamil Nadu I remember 3 clients who came for astrological counseling. These 3 people had later on something to do with the Tsunami and that is precisely why I am discussing this incident. In all the 3 horoscopes I found that they had the threat of death by drowning. It is called Water Ganda (Ganda means danger) and this may arise from various astrological combination. One famous combination is having the Moon in the 6th house in the horoscope. I found that all the 3 clients apart from generally having the danger from water indicated in their horoscope, they were also under the maraka period (possibility of death). The book suggests that they do Mrityunjaya Japa Homa and they did that in a local Sri Ayyappa Temple in Egmore region of Chennai.

Apart from this remedy I gave them the commonsense remedy which is obviously the simple “STAY AWAY FROM WATERFALLS, SEA and the ROUGH RIVERS until this bad phase was over”. The afflicting planet was Saturn in all the 3 cases. Saturn rules number 8. I asked them to be careful on dates that total to 8.

On December 26, 2004 ( a date that totals to number 8) around 8 am I got a call from the father of one of of these 3 clients. This client was a youth in his early 20s. That morning all his friends came home and asked him to accompany them to the beach to play on the shores near a place called Mamallapuram which is just 60 kms away from Chennai City. He went with them.

His father was crying over the phone and telling me about what has happened. He concluded negatively because his son was not picking up his mobile phone. I told him to calm down because “…he had done the mrityunjaya japa homa so don’t worry…”. I kept consoling him this way and before hanging up told him to call me back and share with me the good news that his son was safe and returning home.

His friends told me later on that my client was the only one who went towards the sea while the others remained closer to the road. Then they saw the historic Tsunami. The young man did almost manage to run away from the clutches of the waves but in the last minute he was dragged back along with a few coconut trees and later when they found him unconscious they revived him using simple techniques. His mobile phone was washed away. His father was overjoyed when he came back home safe and sound though he remained in a state of shock thinking about what may have happened.

The 2nd client was an older man who was enjoying his life as a retired government official. His wife and he  were staying at GRT Resort on Mamallapuram beach near Chennai (Madras). They were on the beach after a long gap of  5 years. They were looking at the enchanting sea for more than an hour and then suddenly the man decided to go back to their room. They both just about reached the 1st floor when they were shocked at the sight of the water rushing in which almost reached the 1st floor. Their new car was washed away further up the main road and they found it later filled with sand. His son called me up and told me of about the incident. Both of us and his family members were glad that he performed the Mrityunjaya Japa Homa as prescribed in Brihat Parasara Hora Sastra because his horoscope indicated danger through water and the man was in the sub period of a planet owning the maraka house (death possibility house).

The 3rd client was a middle aged man and on the fateful Tsunami day he was on the Marina (Chennai) the 2nd longest beach in the world. He later told me that he had gone to the beach on that day after nearly about 10 years. I asked him why he chose to go on that December 26th 2004. He said in the early morning “I got an extraordinary desire to go to the beach”.  Of course by now you must have guessed it right that since this man also did the Mrityunjaya Japa Homa he must have escaped the tentacles of the powerful waves which is why he later told me about the incident.

What is surprising is that all the 3 clients were not used to going to the beach frequently. Then what was the reason that they all came close to the beach on that fateful day?

I reasoned out that Karma will show a glimpse of what was to happen in case we change the final outcome by reaching out to God through the right astrological remedies. Otherwise we may not believe in the power of remedies and in God.

Believe it or not. The pooja costs maximum INR 800 (US $ 17) maximum if done by the purohits in the Ayyappa Prarthana Mandhir at Egmore, Chennai. I am giving away this information because some money minded purohits in India take about Rs.10,000 to Rs.50,000 for doing the same remedy.

Who should do the Mrityunjaya Japa Homa?

Any one who is under the rule of a planet owning the 2nd or the 7th house is to be considered as being under the threat of premature death. All such people should this homa (Havan). This procedure involves offering certain materials into the sacrificial fire along with recitation of specific mantras.

If Saturn is the planet who owns the 2nd or the 7th house then the possibility of death increases in which case along with the Mrityunjaya Homa a black cow or a female buffalo should also be donated to a  good man who will take care of it very well (without butchering it or selling it away).

Planets occupying the 2nd and 7th house are also designated as Maraka Planet.

If the 2nd lord occupies the 7th  house or the 7th house lord occupies the 2nd house then the possibility is even higher.

Once a person is found to be under the threat, common sense should prevail. Apart from God and remedies, the person should be more careful while driving on highways and while being in places that are prone to accidents. He should give up dangerous sports like racing which is more prone to accidents.

Avoid non vegetarian food at least during such times because at least when your life is in danger you should not kill other creatures. You are seeking mercy for extended life then why shorten the life of another? What is important is that you should not order for the killing (of a chicken or goat). If the food reaches you without your desire then you may consume it. But avoid the desire to eat non vegetarian food. Release birds, animals and fish kept in captivity. Do not have small aquariums at home. Do not keep birds caged. Save the life of an animal just before it is going to be butchered. Once you know the basic idea of such remedies you may invent your own remedies depending upon the environment you live in.

The positive cosmic energies of the world will protect you once you start protecting the lives of others. The final death cannot be overcome. Premature death can be overcome by the right action.

Experience 2.

How an IIM Ahmedabad Topper failed in business

This happened around 1995. I was back to India after a 90 days work assignment with Maharshi Mahesh Yogis Ashram in Holland. This MBA client heard of me from his friend. His friend told him “….meet Mr. Dhilip, his approach to Astrology is unique and he is also a computer programmer. You will like him because he speaks English, is a post graduate and is modern because he uses a computer to cast a horoscope”.

So on one colder evening during the 3rd week of December 1995 he met me in my small 100 sq.ft office in Nathamuni Street, T Nagar, Chennai, India. During the consultation I told him that in his horoscope there were many indications that indicated he was unfit to be a business owner (a businessman). He looked at me as though I had made the worst blunder in my astrology career. He told me “Mr Dhilip, do you know my background. I wish to tell you that I am an MBA topper from IIM A”. I did not hide my ignorance as I asked him innocently what that meant.

He said IIM A stands for Indian Institute of Management – Ahmedabad – the best place for MBA studies. He said that it was the dream place for an MBA aspirant living in India.

I replied “But the planets don’t care about where you are from or what educational qualification you got. By the by are you into business?” He replied “Yes. I have been in it for more than 4 years now”. I was alarmed. I said “please quickly wind up your business and go find a good job and never again get back into business all through your life. You will be caught in vicious cycle of borrowing to pay back your loans”. He refused to listen to what I said, rather what the planets said.

After about a year I came to know that he had fled to a foreign land because those who lent the money to him  were after him. The tough financiers went to his house and almost beat him up and broke a few things in his house. They gave him an impossible deadline to pay back and seeing no other alternative he fled.

As an MBA he was a great man. I heard of him from many others. He was a man capable of making ordinary men into business giants. I have seen some of the project reports he did for others. He was full of ideas and innovation true his educational achievements from IIM A. But the knowledge of business did not work for him. Such is the power of Karma. The planetary positions in his horoscope revealed it. Astrology is something that is not taught at IIMs. I came to know from this man that the past time of students in IIMs and IITs of India is to make fun of Indian Astrology  and Astrologers in general.

Think about it. I know many business giants who have not gone to college due to poor performance in school. They have no idea of the 4 Ps of Marketing or have never heard of Philip Kotler even once in their life time. Yet they excelled in business and earn 10 to 50 times what an MBA topper from the IIMs can earn.

Until you find a good reason for all these contradictions in life you have no other option but to believe in the theory of Karma and planetary positions at birth time as seen in the horoscope.

Experience 3

The challenge of Sani Bhukti in Rahu Dasha

Those who have had the experience of  going to an Indian Astrologer may have heard often the terms Dasha and Bhukti. Dasha is a major ruling period of a planet while Bhukti a minor ruling period is a sub division of Dasha. There are always 9 sub periods within every major period. Each sub period is ruled by a different planet (graha).

This incident that I am going to narrate to you happened in 1998. I was sitting in front of a couple from Kerala – Gods own land. The man was heading towards his Rahu-Sani meaning Rahu Major and Sani Minor period. Since he was in the fag end of Rahu-Guru (Guru = Jupiter), I gave him several warnings about the next 2 years and 10 months.

I told him the following things:

  1. You are going towards the most challenging road in the travel called life.
  2. Do not start a new business venture
  3. Do not borrow money and if you do that you will come back to be bankrupt by the time this period is over.
  4. Somebody is likley to come to you and give you a fantastic offer of a loan at low interest. This is just a trap. Remember my words and say no to the trap.
  5. If in case the karmic tendencies get stronger and you like to ignore my advice, your wife (who was seated next to her) should remind you that your Astrologer had told you about the trap.
  6. Donate money to the poor on all Saturdays because Rahu and Sani means double barrel gun. So the more you give on Saturday the more protected you will be.
  7. If you do not heed to my advice you will come back to me for re-consultation saying you do not even have the money to pay my fees. You will say fate is strong and that is why all this happened.
  8. Pray to Lord Ganesha and Lord Hanuman to get rid of your negative karmas brought forward into this life.

He replied, “After hearing so much from you, do you think I will do it. Never”. I told him not to forget or ignore my advice because Karma is very powerful.

He came back after 3 years. As soon as he came into my consultation room, he asked my permission to fall on my feet as a mark of  very high respect as is often done in India.  I said “no, i hate such things, because only God is supreme”. He then said, “Dhilip Sir, you are the greatest Astrologer in the world, because I am now bankrupt as you said”.

I said “but the purpose of the consultation and Astrological wisdom is to somehow change the outcome, the future is always still in our hands”. He failed to see the logic and kept repeating like a parrot, “everything happens as is written on my forehead or on the top of my head, and that is why I was not able to change the future”.

When I asked him to tell me what happened, he said, “A rich man came forward and offered a big sum of money. He told us to give very low interest and said he will take it back after 3 years. I told my wife not to accept this offer and she told me just because a stupid Astrologer told you why should you give up such a fantastic offer. The next day she after remembering my advice became afraid to receive the money whereas I was mentally ready. We started a business and here I am now bankrupt. Tell me what next”. I told him there is nothing else except that the bad time was over and that he has to start afresh. I told him that I will always tell your story to others to prove the efficacy of Astrology. He gave me permission to narrate this incident along with original names and if need be he also offered to speak to my clients in case they do not agree with me the  power of a bad Rahu Dasha and Sani Bhukti.

Experience 4

My sister’s marriage failed because of you Mr Dhilip

This incident pertains to the very sensitive matter called Horoscope Matching. This is a wonderful and reliable branch of Astrology that allows the parents to find a good match for their children. In India though it is the land of Astrology, the horoscope is rarely referred to by most people except for the purpose of Horoscope matching.

In the year 1995 a man requested me to check out the compatibility between the horoscope of his sister and her future husband. I have my own computer program (I am also a computer programmer having earlier worked with NIIT a leading computer institute) that does the job well. When the printout came I handed over the sheets of paper after I told him that the horoscopes  do not match at all.

He was alarmed. I told him not to worry because there are thousand more possible suitors waiting for his dear sister. So I did not understand why he was so worried until he hesitantly told me the marriage was already fixed. I asked him to stop the marriage because the marriage will eventually fail. He said that is impossible because the advance for the marriage hall was paid up, the invitations have already been sent or given by his parents to most people and he told me to think about the pitiable state of his sister.

I then asked him, “Why did you come after fixing the marriage, horoscope matching is done only if you still retain the choice of selecting your spouse”.

After telling me how he found me out in the last minute, he asked me what was wrong with the compatibility. I said it is something about Mars (Kuja Dosha). This planet is always associated with separation, divorce or even death of the spouse.

He then requested me repeatedly to suggest some astrological remedies and other suggestions that will prevent divorce or death. I said the only remedy is to stop the marriage. He said if that happens the life of my sister is doomed.

After about 45 minutes of continuous pleading I yielded under pressure and told him, “Okay, I will give you a remedy, but it may not work all the time and there is no assurance for protection. Kuja (Mars) is the afflicting planet. We are told that one can control the malefic effects of Mars by worshiping Lord Muruga (Skanda) on all Tuesdays (the day of Mars) by offering red clothes and red items (Mars is red). The couple should together do this for lifetime. If they stop this remedy the malefic effects will appear again.

He was a relieved man. He then asked me to change the last line in the horoscope matching report from “The Horoscopes do not match” to “The Horoscopes match well”. I said that i will not do that because the truth remains that the horoscopes do not match. It was his turn to yield now as he got up and left.

After 5 months he came back. As soon as he entered the consultation room, he told me that his sister is seeking legal separation from a court in New Delhi which is where the couple lived after marriage. I asked him did they do the remedies.

After narrating everything that went  wrong with the marriage which is why they were seeking divorce, he told me that his brother-in-law was a staunch atheist. His sister did not find time because she was busy with her office work.

He said in a somewhat stern voice, “Mr Dhilip had you told me that this marriage was going to end in divorce I would have surely stopped the marriage. So I have one advice for you, in future whenever 2 horoscopes don’t match just leave it at that and do not suggest any remedies”.

I found no good reply.

Experience 5

The unsolved problem of childlessness

Somewhere in 1996 a man with 3 educational degrees from famous colleges of India met me and questioned me of the reliability of Vedic Astrology. He had several questions about his career. I answered them all. But despite the right answers he was not convinced that Astrology is indeed a great science.

Those were the days when I had the great urge to convince a person once I knew that the person in front of me did not regard Astrology as a dependable science. I would spend hours to prove that Astrology was a great science. So I started searching in his horoscope  to say something that would impress him. And luckily for me and unluckily for him I found out that this man in his lifetime was never going to be blessed with a child. The astrological reasons were many. I asked him when he got  married. He said that as an Astrologer I should know the answer to that question. I said that i did not know. ( because I was unwilling to strain to find out from the horoscope when he got  married whereas all he needed was to tell me the answer ). I told him “once you give me this information I assure you that I would give you another information that will reveal something very important about you”.

He then told me he got married 8 years ago. I said “I find many planetary combination that indicate childlessness in your horoscope. You may not be blessed with a child in this birth. I am not 100% sure because in matters pertaining to children and marriage I always need the horoscope of the spouse. So if you give me the horoscope of your wife, then I will conclude on this issue”.

He came the next day with the birth details of his wife. After printing out the computer horoscope I studied the planetary positions and found that unfortunately even she had the same childlessness indicated. When 2 such people get married they will be childless because it was part of the karmic plan to get them together. He accepted that I was 100% right because despite medical treatment for years they remained childless after 8 years of marriage.

During those days a friend (call him Remedies Friend) of mine used to visit my office often and he claimed that he knew a great deal about poojas (rituals) and astrological remedies for any problem. Since I did not want to disappoint my client I suggested that he should meet this friend of mine and check out if there were any solution.

My “remedies” friend enthusiastically told him there was nothing that cannot be achieved by rituals and mantras. He gave him a long list of things to do. It included a list of temples he had to go, pray and do certain poojas on certain days of the week. He did all that. After 5 months, his doctor discovered a medical fault with him and using surgery rectified the fault. After 3 months his wife was pregnant. Note: The same doctor did not notice this fault for years. He noticed it immediately after the remedies were done.

I was startled looking at the result. I was unable to understand how this was possible. If the horoscope showed so clearly childlessness how is that the remedies were able to change all that.  Anyway I was happy that the couple was finally going to be blessed with a child after years of anxieties. I was not worried that I got it all wrong.

Later on I met the same client once again but this time for a consultation for his friend. I asked him whether he was going to the temples and doing all the required poojas. The answer hocked me when told me that he and his wife stopped doing all the remedies simple because they both reasoned out that the doctor performed the magic instead of the prayers. Without the doctor all this was not possible. So why say that the remedies did that when the real credit should go to the medical science. So they thought that the remedies were just an eye wash. They said the credit should go the field of medicine and the doctor.

I told my client that there is no harm in doing the poojas. After all it is not like consuming alcohol, or smoking or gambling. Prayers have no side effects. I told  him, “at least you should do the prescribed remedies until the child is born”. He told me not to bother him with all these remedies. He even warned me that if I continued to convince him he would never come back to me. I left it at that.

On April 14th of 1997 the child was born dead. I was shocked when I came to hear of it. I never saw the man again.

I spent years thinking about how much fate and how much freewill we all have in our lives. After years of pondering I understood that If the fate it too strong, freewill has less chance to alter fate during a particular patch in time. If the fate was weak, little effort and guidance can change what is to happen. So never give up trying.

Experience 6

Another story of Rags to Riches

I am unable to recall the year this young man met me. He came for a consultation one evening. As soon as he sat down he told me that this was his first astrological consultation. I observed that he was nervous and so I told him not to worry because at the end of the consultation I promised him that he would be glad about it.

I stared at the horoscope for about 30 minutes without uttering a single word. I was stumped. He asked me whether something was wrong because he noticed I looked very serious. Actually I was searching for a good reason why he came for consultation and that is because usually people visit doctors, lawyers etc only when they have a problem. I noticed from his horoscope that the planetary period was excellent and the transits were very supportive. I concluded that he was in his golden period. I have been used to the style of starting the consultation on the negative side and then shifting to the positive things only at the end of the consultation. Here I was found myself in a different situation.

Finally I gave in. I said, “I cannot see any problem in your life. So I fail to understand why you came for consultation? Please kindly let me know the answer”.

He said, “Sir, you are right and that is exactly why I came today”.

I was not astonished. He then told me that he took over a part of his uncle’s business in garment trade. Though he was new to the business he did well. To move from a scooter to Mercedes car took him just 3 years. From a 4 digit bank balance (in rupees) he improved it to a 8 digit bank balance in just 3 years. He told me that he was afraid of his own phenomenal rise in such a manner. Will it last or is it just a dream. He was suspicious. He felt that something was wrong.

I looked at the horoscope and said that he was in his best phase of his life. The golden period – the Raja Yoga period which is how we refer to such a great period in vedic astrology. I explained to him the why and how. Finally I gave him some extra astrological remedies to enhance the good effects like lucky gems and making friends out of his enemy planets.

When he left my office after about an hour he was a relieved man and so was I.

I thanked God for sending me such a client because I had nothing negative to talk about. I prayed to God that such clients come to me frequently for counseling.  But in my entire life time as an Astrologer God granted me this wish only 6 times. That’s the life of an Astrologer.

Experience 7

You must get lucky to wear your lucky gem

I often wonder whether the lucky gem is really a dependable astrological remedy that we Astrologers suggest during a consultation though I am convinced that the 9 astrological gems are indeed connected with the 9 planets (grahas) in the horoscope.

So why do I suspect whether lucky gems are a great idea?

I have often noticed that the most needed lucky gem does not come to the person that easily. There are several ways the lucky gem is prevented from reaching the hands of the one who needs it most.

The main reason is that karma does not allow this to happen. Our life is a fight against our own karma carried forward from our past.

I have noticed several ways the lucky gem is prevented from protecting my clients. The first way is that the person never gets to know what is his/her lucky gem. The 2nd way is some people get the opposite gem instead of the lucky gem which happens whenever they consult beginners in Astrology. The 3rd way is they end up buying the fake gem. The fake gems are unfortunately more attractive than the original gems.  The 4th way is that even after suggesting the correct lucky gem the person is unwilling to wear it because his father or grandfather had given him a gem which he holds as dear and lucky and none can change his view.

Let me narrate to you an interesting incident.

A client kept his lucky gem in the pooja room along with flowers, coconut and other prasad (divine food). Right in front of his eyes he saw a rat pick up the gem and go away through the drainage pipe. Too difficult to believe and yet it happened.

Most people lose the gem. .As simple as that. But you may wonder that we all lose things. So what is special. The special thing is that most clients report strange events surrounding the losing. There are clients who swear that they have never lost a single ring in their life time but yet lost the lucky gem.

A man was about to enter a negative Jupiter (Guru) sub period indicating one of the worst period in his life. The planetary positions indicated a great fall and also jail and restrictions. So i requested him to wear a yellow sapphire on his index finger set in gold to be first worn on an auspicious Thursday. He did all that. I told him to somehow wear it for the next 2 years and 6 months. He said that he will do it easily because he was so used to wearing lucky gems all through his life.

After a week he developed rashes around the yellow sapphire ring and the doctor told him to remove it. He called me up on phone and I told him to wear it on the left hand index finger. He did that and within a fortnight I he called me up with the same complaint. I suggested that he wears the yellow sapphire as a pendant. When he called me up again I knew he must have developed rashes on his chest area. He did.

I gave up and so did he because he decided to take off the ring from his body and throw it away. Within a matter of 2 months he got involved in a murder case in which he was actually innocent but because of political rivalry he went to jail and lost most of his wealth due to various reasons. I sent word through his friend some details on what mantra he should recite and to which form of God he should pray while in jail.

Then after the bad period ended he was released from jail because they found out that he was not guilty. When he met me again, I asked him to wear the yellow sapphire once again which he did but this time to his surprise he did not develop rashes or skin allergies. We both knew that because the negative Jupiter had to play a role in his karma he was not allowed to wear the yellow sapphire. Today the same man is doing fine and had got back all his lost wealth and much more.

An engineer by profession Mr Manickam (false name) has been my client from the year 1993. Today he is a close friend more than a client to me. In his horoscope Venus (Sukra) is in the 12th house. Venus is the raja yoga planet (the guardian angel). This planet is weak in shadbala (strength). So I told him to wear a Diamond ring (Venus gem) on his middle finger. He did that but soon after he pledged it to get some money. After a few years the turnover in his business increased many folds and so when he came back to discuss why he still had financial difficulties I suggested the same remedy. He did wear the diamond ring but pledged it again.

I was surprised and that was because  by then his spending on unwanted things and habits exceeded the cost of the diamond ring. So there was no need to pledge the diamond ring. He had so many other ways of getting the money. So that set me thinking.

Is it the plan of the planets? Was his karma against his wearing the lucky gem? I reasoned out that it must be because in a single party he would spend more money that the worth of his precious diamond ring. He owned 2 cars and had about 100 employees working in his business and yet his target was always to somehow pledge the diamond ring.

A few months ago,  I made another attempt at getting him to wear the lucky diamond. Now-a-days his lifestyle demands that is monthly expenses on clubs and other entertainment exceeds the cost of his lucky diamond. ( I am not talking about the solitaire diamond but many small pieces of diamonds set into a ring to make the ring less expensive).  So I was confident he will not pledge the diamond at least this time.

But just recently when I met him in a Rotary Club meeting I found he was not wearing the diamond ring.

This time I just looked at his hand. We both remained silent.

Suggestion: For those who are unable to wear the lucky gem I suggest that they learn the mantra that is associated with the planet. This is a direct approach to the divine and hence Karma finds it difficult to  stop the person. That is because a gem is a 24 x 7 security system that comes with just an investment. So wearing a lucky gem is an easy remedy. Hence Karma is able to stop the person from taking this short cut.

If you ask me a question with regard to this Knol, whenever I find the time or depending on the genuineness of the question I may answer the question on a separate knol:
