Maharishi Parasara in his book Brihat Parasara Hora Sastra says that whenever the dasha of the lord of the 2nd house or the 7th house begins there is the need for performing a Mrityunjaya Japa Homa (Havan).
Similarly whenever the sub period of the lord of the 2nd house or the 7th house begins the same remedy is recommended.
This homa (havan) is to do be done on the weekday that is associated with the planet that is causing the dosha.
During the dasha or bhukti of such a planet there is always the possibility of very high stress in life, sometimes risk to life, accidents and surgery.
This remedy protects the person from the expected harm from becoming a reality.
